Minneapolis Choir Co-Op stands in solidarity with Palestinians

Since October of 2023, we have been witnessing the horror of Israel's genocide on Palestinians in Gaza every day. Between 155,406 and 777,030 Palestinian men, women and children have been killed in the past year.

Israel has starved 2.15 million Palestinians to crisis levels of hunger, and is depriving them of any necessities for living, such as medicine and water.

Beyond this year alone, Gaza has been under siege and occupation since 2005. Palestinians have been enduring an ongoing Nakba since 1948. Israeli governance, military, and society has been maintaining a system of oppression and domination against Palestinians based on their ethnicity.

This is apartheid, and its result is genocide.

The US has funded 73% of military costs for Israel's attacks on Gaza. $10 million a day of US tax money goes to Israel. We are directly linked with the suffering of Palestinians.

A century of Zionist settler-colonialism has created a past and present of destruction, displacement, and death of Palestinian livelihoods.

The future hangs in the balance. This future, though it is marred with loss, is buoyed by the steadfast perseverance of the Palestinian people.

Music is a building block of resistance. Folk songs passed down - people raising their voices together.

A moment of harmony, a line of poetry that awakens an empathy that spurs action.

The Minneapolis Choir Co-Op is proud to present "If my voice departs," a benefit program of music inspired by and for Palestinians and their steadfastness.

The use of our voices as instruments is a privilege.

It is our duty to raise our voices for those facing genocide.
